In 1936, the village of Stiffkey was gifted the land on which the village hall now stands, to be held in perpetuity as a space for community use. Over the years, the community worked together to build and develop this space for everyone to enjoy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The most recent major effort took place in 1981, when the community came together to construct a building that reflected the needs of the community at that time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
That such a substantial building was created entirely through voluntary labour and community donations stands as a powerful testament to the \u2018can-do\u2019 spirit of this small North Norfolk village.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The time has now come to renew and refurbish the existing hall so that it can better serve the needs of our community in the 21st century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since the current building was constructed, the population of Stiffkey has declined, and it is clear that a building of its present size is no longer necessary. However, its importance as a shared community space remains undiminished.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In keeping with the same spirit of community endeavour that first built the hall, the Village Hall Committee is committed to preserving and improving this valued asset for present and future generations. Our aim is to ensure that it continues to provide a welcoming and practical venue for community groups and their activities, Parish Council meetings, and its vital role as a polling station during local and national elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A carefully considered programme of modernisation\u2014including improved lighting, insulation, and heating, together with increased parking provision and better accessibility for disabled members of the community\u2014will bring the building into line with modern standards while also reducing ongoing running costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To minimise disruption, the work will be carried out in phases, allowing the hall to remain in use throughout the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
